Principal's News
Some days it feels like spring is in the air. On other days it feels like winter is hanging on tight. Looking at the calendar, the end of the school year will be here before we know it. We are gearing up for Spring ISAT Testing and our 3rd through 5th grade students will be tested. The testing window opens on April 12th and closes on May 8th. Just a reminder that during this time we are encouraging students to: get plenty of rest, eat a healthy breakfast, and most importantly, we are encouraging our students to be in school every day. Attendance is vital to our student’s overall academic success. Around April 22nd, we will begin our IRI testing for grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade. We will keep you posted on upcoming testing dates as we get closer to testing time.
Many people wonder, what is the purpose of ISAT testing? These tests are designed to measure how students in our schools are doing compared with the other schools in our district and throughout the state of Idaho. The test will show areas that may need improvement and how his/her skills have improved over time. The test information is very beneficial to our staff. The data results will help us look at ways to continually improve our instruction. The results give us feedback to make improvements where they are needed. The testing experience also gives us opportunities to celebrate student successes and look at their individual growth.
Please encourage your child to do their best on the tests. Help them to relax by talking to them. We are excited to see how much progress our students have made since last years’ spring tests. I know our students and teachers have been working very hard to prepare for the test. Thank you for all your help and support during this exciting time.
